Baja was started in 1992 by owner/executive chef Dr. Jeff Mogalian. Having grown up in Southern California and surfing and eating in Baja California,
Dr. Jeff fell in love with Coastal Mexican cuisine.

Moving to Northern California it was hard to find coastal Mexican and impossible to find the beloved Fish Tacos. So what's a Dead-Head /surfer / dentist / chef supposed to do? Open the freshest, tastiest most authentic Baja-style Mexican restaurant on Piedmont Ave and 20 years later continue the tradition with award winning food.
